Welcome to the Carmelite Digest Web site! We invite you to take a tour of the site and see what our publication has to offer. The Carmelite Digest staff strives to present articles that give readers information about Carmelite spirituality; the Carmelite family; and Carmelite saints, blesseds, and holy people. It is our endeavor to make our issues as attractive as possible starting with the cover and throughout the entire publication.

Our magazine presents not only Carmelite spirituality and history, but it also features people and places connected with Carmel. Carmelite Digest includes human-interest stories that show the different ways people journey seeking God's will and love. We publish articles from writers who travel many different roads in their spiritual lives. Many are renowned authors; teachers; leaders in spirituality; our friars, nuns, and seculars; and those interested in the Carmelite way of life. We hope this Web site helps you discover what Carmelite Digest is all about and might be a means of encouraging you to subscribe. We present excerpts of several articles you can view, and we give you information on what current and back issues of Carmelite Digest are available.

The icon on the cover of the new Spring 2010 Issue of Carmelite Digest is named Our Lady, Mother of the Clergy, in honor of the Year for Priests and is based on an icon of the calling of St. Nicholas to be a bishop. In that ancient icon, Jesus is handing St. Nicholas the book of the Gospels; and Mary presents him with a stole. Our icon has Mary giving a stole with the symbol of the Carmelite Order. It reminds us that the vocation to the Carmelite priesthood is a gift from God through the hands of Mary. We wish all our priests the special protection of Our Lady in this Year for Priests.
